Teaching has been my vocation since I started studying languages (English and French) in 1984 at Heidelberg University. I gathered my first practical teaching experience in France (Douarnenez; 1988-1989) and Wales (Radyr and Cowbridge; 1990-1991) as a language assistant.

I carried on teaching alongside my PhD, in Cardiff: I was part time tutor for English literature in the English Department, and French and German tutor in the Department of Continuing Education and the European Language Centre.

Since 1997, I have been teaching courses in English literature, cultural and media studies at Leeds Trinity University, Heidelberg University, Coventry University and the University of Malta.

In July 2018 I completed my teacher training for secondary education (English and French) at the Staatliches Seminar für Didaktik und Lehrerbildung (Gymnasien) Heidelberg and the Hebel-Gymnasium Schwetzingen. I am now a fully qualified secondary school teacher (Studienassessor).
